“The Gift” Official Contest Rules 2013
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. YOU MAY ENTER THE CONTEST WITHOUT REGISTERING FOR THE SOUTHEAST OHIO WRITERS CONFERENCE.
“The Gift” writing contest is open to any person age 13 years or older.
2. Entry Period
The contest period ends August 31, 2013 at 11:59pm EST. All entries for the contest must be received by this time.
3. How to Enter
To enter, you must submit a short story or poem of no more than 1250 words. A maximum of 3 entries per person will be allowed. Entries must pertain to the contest theme. You retain all rights, title, and interest in and to your submission, including copyright, provided, however, that by participating in the contest you grant the sponsors the non-exclusive, royalty-free right to publish in the contest anthology your submission, your name, image, likeness, and biographical information whether or not your submission is selected as a winning submission. Send entries to email@example.com Entries need to be in a .doc , .pdf , or .rtf format. Please make sure you put “The Gift Entry” in the subject of the email. Include in the body of the email your full name (so we can easily identify your story), the title of your piece, a short bio for the anthology, a picture (optional) for the anthology.
4. Submission Requirements
- Submission must be no more than 1250 words.
- Submission must be an original work created solely by you and does not infringe upon any third-party copyrights or other intellectual property rights.
- Submission must not contain defamatory statements.
- Submission must not invade privacy, publicity, or other rights of any person, firm, or entity.
5. Winner Selection
Each submission in its entirety will be judged on the following: quality and originality of the writing, publishable quality of the writing, and adherence to the contest theme. The judges will be fair and impartial. Announcement of the winners will be made on October 5, 2013 at the Southeast Ohio Writers Conference.
All entries will be compiled in an anthology. The contest committee reserves the right to not publish your submission if it does not meet the contest criteria.
